Isabella with Maureen Lee

Me and mine

An article by volunteer Isabella Smith

Just wanted to share some comments from 2 ladies I have supported one lady I phone every Friday called Maureen to have a chat with. Maureen thinks everyone has been marvellous in her community, and felt she needed to include the work of Cheshire East Council who she said had been “very supportive” Maureen also made a positive  comment on a site called “Next Door Goostrey”. When she was shielding she needed support but help was at hand on her doorstep it seemed and during her time shielding it was her birthday she said: “I expected a quiet birthday, but I got doorstep visitors, gifts and flowers and my nominated local authority support worker Isabella Smith, arrived with a homemade  cake and a card. I just wanted to let all of you amazing people know what a huge difference each and everyone of you are making.”

Another lady needing a bit of help was  Jean Jefferies, who contacted me and I have since shopped for her twice for a few small items because she has now got a delivery slot with Tesco, but she isn’t sure if she has one for every week. I am happy to be flexible, and have told her so and currently because neither of us had any change at the time I have £2.70  of her money. We agreed that I keep it for the next small shop or I will drop it off next week if she doesn’t need anything. I have given her my address so she knows where I am, I am not running off. Jean said “I couldn’t believe how quickly and efficiently I was contacted and supported from the initial phone call made by my  niece living in Stockport to the local authority and the People Helping People Team support worker delivering the shopping at my door” her niece added  “I would like to pass on praise from my Aunt  Jean who said that she and our  family in Stockport have been very impressed with the efficient service from Cheshire East from when she was referred to contact made.” Isn’t it good to feel valued and appreciated in your community?
