The CAT 107.9FM Recognises Nantwich Community Journalist

Local radio station, The Cat 107.9FM, have recently presented their seventh Local Legend monthly award sponsored by Baked by Gill, which follows on from the weekly Community Hero Award that the radio station ran earlier in the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Local Legend award was presented to Community Journalist, Jonathan White.

In his 15 years as a Community Journalist, Jonathan has written over 1,500 articles and taken 1,000s of photographs to publicise local events and organisations, which he has shared with news organisations across South Cheshire including The Cat.

Jonathan is also a keen photographer and has been the Nantwich Town official photographer for 5 years, a voluntary role which allows him to support his club while taking great photographs which are used to illustrate match reports in the programme and in local news.

Jonathan received his Baked by Gill Cat Cake, Cat goodies and a Local Legend certificate from Cat 107.9FM presenter David Foulkes.

Jonathan White said: “I am proud and privileged to receive the award for my community journalism. I hope that people enjoy reading my news stories as much as I enjoy putting them together.”

Chris Cadman, Managing Director of The Cat said, “Jonathan has contributed to community in so many ways with his excellent photography, news editorials and as the photographer for Nantwich Town Football Club. It’s a real pleasure to be able to recognise him as our latest Local Legend.  Congratulations Jonathan.”

The Local Legend Award looks to recognise the work of local individuals and organisations who have gone that extra mile in support of their communities and is sponsored by ‘Baked by Gill’ with winners being drawn out of a hat to receive a wonderful cake, Cat 107.9FM goodies and a certificate.
